Innovation & ICT Skills
This pillar involves training students to use their learned ICT skills and research-oriented innovation to solve Kenyan socio-economic problems. The mentees also learn ICT skills not normally taught in the classroom, such as Version Control. This pillar also includes exposure to skills needed to prepare for ICT careers.
The mentees take part in hands-on workshops that hone their professional communication skills, CV-writing, preparation for tech interviews, writing skills, and academic writing.
The mentees take part in hands-on workshops that hone personal skills such as confidence building, overcoming Impostor Syndrome, mental health, financial literacy, and critical thinking skills.
The mentees are trained to write award-winning scholarship essays and highly encouraged to apply to the numerous funding and internship opportunities in the local and global tech community.
The students take part in workshops and talks in the local tech community. They also give back their skills and time to the community through training others, sharing experiences, and as student volunteers in conferences.
